Cheap screen printing has been so popular nowadays. In fact, some individuals are screen printing at home. You will see many of its end products in streets, in malls, and even in your community. This is mostly seen also in our young individuals and this is very evident whenever there are special occasions or events in schools. Many individuals customize their shirt through screen printing due to its cheaper cost. Having you shirt printed through this process is really much cheaper compared to other printing techniques. That is why most companies today are still using this printing process due to its cost effectiveness and high quality. Although many printing techniques have emerged today, they still prefer to use this technique because of the above-mentioned reasons.
The basic process of screen printing is this. You have your design artwork copied in the screen then apply an ink on it with a shirt behind on the screen. The transferred ink on the shirt is being dried for few minutes and that this makes now your shirt printed using this technique. The details of this process will be discussed below with the step by step procedure on how to do it properly.

Here are the things you will need.
- A T-shirt or any equivalent material
- Mod Podge Glue which will be used in making stencil
- Fabric ink or paint
- A 5 m of thin permeable fabric (organza). This is like a curtain fabric.
- A 12 inch embroidery hoop
- A sponge
- A contact paper
Procedure:
1. Make a design artwork for your shirt. You can draw or print an artwork using your computer. There are lots of designs in the internet to choose from or you can just do the design according to your ideas and creativity.
2. Get now your organza fabric and start to cut it out. This should be enough to fit on your embroidery hoop.
3. Secure the organza thin fabric on the embroidery hoop. Make sure that the fabric or screen is stretched tight and securely fastened to the hoop or frame.
4. Place this now on top of your drawing or design artwork.
5. Using a pencil, start tracing your design artwork now.
6. After you have traced your design artwork, apply a mod podge using a brush around the traced design artwork on the thin fabric. This is being done in order to make a stencil.
7. Then allow it to dry for few minutes. You will notice that the mod podge will dry in a clean form.
8. With cardboard underneath the shirt, lay down now the embroidery hoop to your shirt. The cardboard is used to prevent the ink to transfer to the other side of your shirt.
9. Start applying ink now using sponge. When doing this, be gentle and do not apply force or pressure.
10. If you want to add more pictures to your shirt, you can do this by making a drawing in a contact paper. When it is done, you need to cut out the inside of your new drawing or picture.
11. Start peeling off the packing sheet on the contact paper. You will then have the transparent paper. This should be attached on your shirt.
12. Apply paint on the surface. Don’t forget to insert cardboard again underneath your shirt to prevent the transfer of ink.
13. After doing it, you can now remove the sheet off from the shirt.
14. Allow the paint to dry for sometime. When it is ready, iron your shirt over grease paper.
You now have your t-shirt that is made through cheap screen printing process.
